Nur-Sultan, September 23. Mazhilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin met with the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Andrej Danko, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.
As Nurlan Nigmatulin noted, the visit of the Slovak Parliament’s Chairman and his participation in the 4th meeting of speakers of Eurasian countries’ parliaments “Greater Eurasia: Dialogue. Trust. Partnership” shows the Slovak Republic’s interest in further strengthening of all-round cooperation with Kazakhstan.
According to the Mazhilis Chairman, our country’s commitment to sustainable development of Kazakh-Slovak relations is evidenced by the decision of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on transforming our Diplomatic Mission in Bratislava into the Embassy.
Nurlan Nigmatulin also emphasized that there are all necessary conditions for expanding cooperation between the two countries, from the favorable geopolitical position of Kazakhstan to the necessary contractual and legal framework.
Praising the level of Kazakh-Slovak relations, the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Danko, emphasized the need to use the potential of our country.
During the discussion of the international agenda, Nurlan Nigmatulin stressed that our country pays special attention to cooperation with the OSCE. Noting that Slovakia is chairing the OSCE this year, the Mazhilis Speaker emphasized that our country supports the priorities of the Slovak chairmanship in this organization, including preventive diplomacy, mediation, reducing conflicts, and ensuring a safer future.
According to the Mazhilis Speaker, Kazakhstan also highly appreciates the fact that the Slovak Parliament was one of the first European Union countries to ratify the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU. At the same time, Nurlan Nigmatulin expressed confidence that cooperation under the new Strategy will help create conditions for sustainable development of the Central Asian region.
Speaking about the inter-parliamentary relations, the Mazhilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin and the Slovak National Council Chairman Andrej Danko confirmed the willingness of the two countries’ parliament members to strengthen contacts on a systematic basis, as well as share legislative experience.
Talking about his participation in the 4th meeting of speakers of Eurasian countries’ parliaments, Andrej Danko noted that he was happy to accept the invitation to the forum.
